Two-thirds of our population still lives in rural areas. With growing economic prosperity across the country, the poor from rural areas are increasingly migrating to urban places with dreams and aspirations of earning well and living a better life. However, with no prior familiarity with formal banking system, most of these people still borrow from their native money lenders. These money lenders offer credit at higher interest rates than commercial banks and exploit the poor by various methods because of which they perpetually fall into a debt trap. However, one man decided to change this all. This is the story of J.S Parthiban, a bank manager and his journey in changing economic slavery in rural India.
